The 33 South Team is as colourful, diverse and attractive (if we may say so ourselves!) as the rooms themselves! They all bring along a piece of their unique personalities, a welcoming smile, boundless enthusiasm and endless knowledge of what this beautiful place we call our ‘home’ has to offer.
Andrea is our new marketing intern from Austria and supports the team with her creative ideas. With her red hair and light skin she brightens the 33 South Team. She is very engaged to explore new cultures and to meet people around the world. She is also very open-minded, but be cautious to talk to her when she is very focused on doing something, as she can get confused very easily.
Babalo is the so called “Lady Bountiful” at 33 South. Although she is the quieter one of the cleaning ladies, she has learnt to speak beautiful English – a cup of tea and simple Xhosa lessons with guests are always on offer at the kitchen table.
Our handsome Blessing does the gardening for our hostel. With his passion for painting in his free time, he has also an excellent eye to make the best out of the surroundings of 33 South.
Claire is our new volunteer from France. She is also called ToufTouf by her friends, because of her long and thick hair. Claire supports our team with her international business knowledge and refreshes the reception with her happy and friendly appearance. Besides her passion for eating, she also likes to dance.
Clyde is our helpful man for everything. He helps us out at the reception and also ensures that everything works and that our hostel is always in tip-top shape. Our hard-working Clyde likes to play music and to joke around with other people.
With his Congalese charm, and boyish good looks, Elvis brings a sense of calm to 33 South. Responsible for ensuring guests have a safe and peaceful nights sleep, he also practices his baking skills by making the famous muffins served with the free daily breakfast.
With a lot of experience in the industry, we are happy to welcome our new assistant manager Elvis to our colourful 33 South Backpackers Team. Because he works with a lot of clever women, he is especially proud of his ability to multitask. In his free time, he jokes around with his 7-year old son. If not, you find him either at the beach or watching a football game with his friends.
As one of our interns she refreshes our team with her marketing knowledge. As she is responsible for postings on social media, make sure that you always have a smile on your face. She likes to chat with other people and is always ready for a good joke. However, be aware that she gets something to eat otherwise she can be quite unhappy.
Maletuka is the pretty head of reception at the 33 South Backpackers. She is fond of backpacking herself so it was a dream come true to actually work in the field, which includes amusement with gipsy travellers from all around the world. Also, she studies civil engineering at the UCT. So: Don´t give up – just ask Maletuka!
As our handsome Musa likes to deal with numbers, he decided to study accounting at the UCT. Therefore, his main responsibilities at 33 South Backpackers are the financial issues. As he is very communicative and open-minded, he also likes to help out at the reception and to entertain our guests.
As the manager of 33 South Backpackers Natasha is responsible for everything (Human Resources, Marketing and administrative work) and ensures that the guests have a pleasant stay. Some call her a wine connoisseur and although she is always buzzing around, she never forgets to smile. When she uses her syrupy-sweet voice then you know she’s about to ask a favour! Contact Natasha.
Victoria is one of our cleaning ladies and ensures a sparkly clean surrounding for guests to enjoy. You can either find her in the laundry doing the washing or in one of our rooms to arrange the beds nicely. Also at home she loves to care for a fresh and warm environment.
